Such is the blessing and curse of prophecy: to offer glimpses of truth across a landscape of mirages, with none capable of discerning what awaits, and that which may not come to pass. The past does not shape the future, but it nevertheless informs our visions and conceptions of it, like the thick smoke veil of the Skooma.
